I will not be talking about the story yet because I would like to complete "The Final Draft" before writing out my opinions on the story. Don't expect that to be soon (could be months lol)
This game feels a lot like Resident Evil 2 Remake to me, both games have movement that makes exploring fun. That may sound weird because they both have very little movement options with there only being walk, jog, and sprint but for me animation is more important to making movement feel good, and the animations in Alan Wake 2 are amazing, there wasn't a single animation that I felt looked weird or out of place.
There is a good amount of variety of weapons in Alan Wake 2. I tried to use all of them a good amount, and I think all of them are fun, but I enjoyed the crossbow and hunting rifle the most because I prefer weapons that require good aim but do a lot of damage. Alan only has 3 weapons: a revolver, a flare gun, and a double-barrel shotgun, I didn't enjoy the selection Alan has as much as the weapons Saga has but the revolver satisfied the "high precision, high damage" playstyle I like. Something small I noticed was the non-special Taken still being killed by 3 shots from Alan's Revolver, but in Alan Wake 2 they need to be headshots
I played this game on PS5 in "Performance" mode, and it kept a pretty steady 60fps in most scenes, but there were noticable dips in FPS in places like Cauldron Lake and some parts of Watery, it seemed like the forests were a bit difficult to run for the PS5. Other than that, I didn't notice too much of a quality decrease from Quality (better graphics and resolution but locked at 30FPS), the only big downgrade I noticed were the shadows but it wasn't bad enough for me to feel like changing to Quality.
I don't want to say too much about the 4 small open worlds yet because of how they're connected to the story, but I do want to say I really liked all of them.
I hope my writing is at least slightly better than before. I've never really written my opinion on anything before so I'm trying to learn how to make a cohesive post. It still feels like I'm making lists, but hopefully that will change eventually. I'll try taking notes so that maybe I can make a post that flows better lol :3
